Maybe just maybe, they DO want to be left alone. Maybe they don’t care.
But you do. You’re worried and concerned... and it’s not going away…
Your siblings or children want to know what’s wrong with Dad or Mom and then you have to answer to them.
You feel like a failure in caregiving.
Or maybe feel the police will be knocking on your door for elder abuse… Oh, what to do?
You certainly don’t want to wait until their health is so bad they have to go to the emergency room. There IS an EASY Solution…

There is an easy solution...

Get a telemedicine company set up because this is not the last time you will experience this.

It is the easiest solution you will ever do…

(These are personal experiences I have had while on the phones.)
Since the COVID pandemic, I have had to work in telemedicine because of the demand for it.
At first, I was really unsure about this telemedicine thing.
Having never done it before, how could I accurately diagnose and help a patient if I couldn’t see the full-body, feel the patient, listen to their heart and lungs, or even smell them?
I was very skeptical. But all this changed quickly… Here's your benefits...

• The caregiver calls me and can talk with me first with or without the loved one (spouse, parent) being there and tells me the real concerns.
• There are no transportation problems.
• No waiting room sickness to contend with.
• No weighing in!
• I get to see your home.
• I can order physical therapy for the home, or Order fall risk assessment, or order home health nursing.
• I can call in prescriptions... You can take me on a tour of your home!
• And you never left home!!
• And last but not least, you have my undivided attention. I am not sitting there typing into a computer! Our visit IS the computer!
• You get a complete handout of everything we talked about sent to your email to take to your primary care doctor the next time you are there.

Let's set up your telemedicine company...

• Find one who has a physician you can request and establish a connection with them.
• There are many out there.
• Get the cost.
• Make sure it is covered by your parent or spouse’s insurance. (call the insurance company as sometimes they have a specific telemedicine company they want you to use. Call them first).
• Find out their hours of operation. The doctor you like may have specific hours.

This telemedicine call is more for you than them.
I see this all the time.
Sometimes, I have to talk through the phone to your spouse or parent until he or she finally takes the phone and opens up to me.
Sometimes, I just keep talking until they understand I am pretty nice and care about them.

Next time your spouse or parent tells you they are not going to the doctor, you can say, “Great! Let’s call telemedicine. I’ll call you over when I got them on the phone.”

If you don’t do this, do you have a choice?
It is telemedicine or it is emergency room if we continue to ignore their decline…
